This disc contains works by American composers David Crumb. It contains the work September Elegy (for violin and piano), which was premiered by Fritz Gearhart and John Owings at Carnegie Recital hall in 2001.
This wonderful and moody work was inspired in part by the horrific events of September 11th. In David Crumb’s words: “The rather sudden dissolution of this music symbolizes the destructive, apocalyptic nature of the terrorist attack. A seemingly endless and suspended violin note emerges from this musical ‘void,’ and is starkly scored against a softly pulsating pedal point in the piano.”
This disc is on the Bridge Records Label, released in 2015.
